Cheery Things

13 November, 2016 9 Comments

Crikey! What a week! I don’t know about you, but I feel slightly shell-shocked about the US elections. I woke up on the morning of the result with a line from the Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy when Ford Prefect cheerfully says to Arthur, “drink up, the world’s about to end”, going around in my head. It feels quite apt. Shall we look at some nice things to momentarily forget the madness?

cheery-things

1. ALL THE SPARKLES.

2. Best advent calendar ever.

3. Hedgehog rucksack from Anorak.

4. We have about ten people coming over for Christmas this year and I realised that we only have five dinner plates! If I could, I’d get all my dinnerware from Anthropology, but I suspect I’ll be trawling the charity shops instead. I’m still going to dream about Anthro plates though. How wonderful is this hare? Although this plate and this plate, both from M&S are gorgeous.

5. MORE SPARKLES. More shoes: velvet goodness, pretty flats, nice buckles (and on sale)

6. Kids’ velvet jacket.

7. Lovely coffee pot.

Things to read, all election based (sorry not sorry):

  • IT’S GOING TO BE OKAY
  • Awesome women who did get elected this week.
  • How to make it through the next four years and survive in Trump’s America
  • A letter to America from Leslie Knope, regarding Donald Trump – this is amazing and even if you’ve never seen Parks & Recreation, you should deffo read this.
  • If it all gets a bit too much for you, have a calming manatee
  • Did you see Hilary Clinton’s concession speech? It was good. There was one bit in particular that stuck with me, to the point where I have made a printable to put up in Betsy’s bedroom. You can have a copy of it too if you like, just click on the image below for the full A4 size.

And to all of the little girls who are watching this, never doubt that you are valuable and powerful and deserving of every chance and opportunity in the world to pursue and achieve your own dreams.

#marvmondays basically I feel like I’m letting my sparkle down my not paying homage to the shoes BUT that coffee pot melts my heart – which is even weirder as I don’t drink the stuff

I love all those cheerful things. Those shoes are especially gorgeous. The result of the election was insane. Thinking about it upsets me. So it is much better to concentrate on what is still good in this world. Hugs Lucy xxxx #MarvMondays
